Welcome
Mencius is Confucius' most famous student and a revered scholar in Chinese history. A philosopher and teacher, he is also the author of numerous classic poems in Chinese literature.
Mencius Mandarin Preschool is an English-Mandarin Chinese bilingual preschool located in the heart of Greenwich, Connecticut. It serves children ages 2 to 5 years old, and does not require that its students have prior knowledge of Mandarin Chinese.
Our school admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin – as long as they are willing to learn Mandarin Chinese! Founded in 2009, the school is non-sectarian and is licensed by the state of Connecticut.
We believe that in a world of increasing globalization, children exposed to a second (or more) language as early as possible in life will have enhanced skills to thrive in a multi-cultural world. Many studies have shown that learning a second language actually enhances a child's English ability by teaching him/her the structure of language.1
In study after study, immersion programs such as ours have been shown to be more effective in helping students develop native-like levels of comprehension and fluency in the second language than studying the language as a distinct subject several times a week or a short intensive course.2
Many world leaders in business and finance have already realized the importance of having their children learn Mandarin Chinese. In fact, our former Secretary of Treasury Tim Geithner was also a former student of the Mandarin Chinese language. At Mencius Mandarin Preschool we aim to start young children in this process as early as possible in their schooling years to maximize success.
